Our Commitment

Better Floors Shouldn't Cost the Planet

Armstrong has been working toward lower-impact flooring and ceiling products for decades — not because it's trendy, but because it's the right thing to do. Our products carry real certifications backed by third-party testing.

GREENGUARD Gold Certified

Over 90% of our residential vinyl products earn GREENGUARD Gold — tested for 360+ VOCs and chemical emissions. Required by many school districts and healthcare facilities.

FloorScore® Indoor Air Quality

FloorScore certification means an independent lab verified our flooring meets California Section 01350 standards — among the strictest VOC limits in the world.

Recycled Content & Take-Back Programs

Select Armstrong products contain post-industrial recycled content. Our commercial ceiling tile take-back program has diverted millions of pounds of material from landfill since 2000.

What Designers & Contractors Are Saying

Common Questions, Straight Answers

No sales spin — just the things customers ask us most often.

What's the difference between LVP and LVT?

LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) comes in long plank shapes that mimic hardwood. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) comes in square or rectangular tiles designed to look like stone or ceramic. Both use the same wear-layer construction — the difference is shape and pattern. LVP tends to feel warmer underfoot; LVT is often preferred in bathrooms and kitchens where a stone look is more appropriate.

Can Armstrong vinyl flooring go over my existing floor?

In most cases, yes — with conditions. The subfloor must be flat within 3/16" over 10 feet, structurally sound, and dry. Armstrong floating planks can go over single layers of hardwood, vinyl, or ceramic tile. Glue-down products require a clean, bare substrate. Always check the specific product's installation guide for height restrictions, especially in doorways.

How do I clean Armstrong vinyl floors?

Armstrong recommends sweeping or vacuuming daily and damp-mopping weekly with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid steam mops — the high heat can warp planks over time. For stubborn stains, Armstrong's Once 'n Done® concentrated cleaner works on both vinyl and laminate surfaces without leaving a residue.

Are Armstrong ceiling tiles suitable for wet areas like bathrooms?

Most standard mineral fiber tiles are not rated for wet environments — high humidity can cause sagging and mold. For bathrooms, laundry rooms, or commercial kitchens, Armstrong offers humidity-resistant and washable tile options including their Ultima and Bioguard lines, which are rated for RH up to 99% and Class A fire rating.

What does NRC mean on ceiling tile specs?

NRC stands for Noise Reduction Coefficient — it measures how much sound a ceiling tile absorbs rather than reflecting back into the room. An NRC of 1.0 means perfect absorption (theoretical maximum); 0.0 means total reflection. For open offices, aim for NRC 0.70+. For private offices and classrooms, NRC 0.55 is usually sufficient. Armstrong ceiling tiles range from NRC 0.45 (basic) to 0.90 (high-performance acoustics).

Do you offer samples before I commit to a large order?

Yes — and we strongly encourage it. Floor samples let you evaluate the color match under your actual lighting conditions, which often differs significantly from product photography. Request up to 3 free samples through our form above. Commercial quantities come with a dedicated account rep who can provide material lists and contractor pricing.
